AN Oxfordshire man has been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after he stole items from various buildings over a five-month period.

Shaun Thornhill, 48, of Blue Mountains, Wallingford, was issued with a CBO on Thursday, May 20, after pleading guilty to eight counts of burglary – theft, and two counts of burglary with intent to steal.

The conditions of the CBO prohibit Thornhill from trespassing on any fenced or otherwise enclosed residential property, including inside any gardens or buildings without permission and prohibit him from being in possession of a crowbar between 8pm and 6am.

Thornhill also received a sentence of six months’ imprisonment suspended for two years.

He must undergo treatment for drug dependency for one year and must undertake Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for a maximum of 10 days.

His sentencing is in connection with 10 incidents that took place in Oxfordshire between January 14, 2020 and May 18, 2020 in which Thornhill entered buildings and stole various items.

Investigating officer, Sergeant Robert Maris, based at Didcot police station, said: “Thornhill has been a prolific offender, stealing items from various buildings across a five month period.

“I am pleased that we have been able to obtain this CBO to tackle his behaviour.

“I hope this order will enable Thornhill to get the help he needs and engage with support services.”
