AN OXFORD has been fined £1,760 after breaking coronavirus rules.

Abiodun Morakinyo was convicted of participating in a gathering with more than two people at Vepe Hairdressing, on Barns Road, on November 10 - in the second lockdown.

The 37-year-old, of Kingfisher Green, Oxford, appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court on April 16.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £176 and court costs of £90.

In November, the coronavirus rules meant that everybody must stay at home unless they had to go to school or work, medical appointments, or essential food shopping.

People could go for outdoor exercise with one other person but all non-essential retail, pubs, leisure and entertainment venues were ordered to close.
