Hundreds of people queued to see a film which this small group of protesters thought was too violent.

The Sun newspaper had offered free tickets to its readers to see a preview of the violent new blockbuster movie Rambo in 1985. As they waited to go in, they were met by a banner-waving quintet claiming the film, starring Sylvester Stallone, should be banned. Pictured outside the ABC cinema in George Street, Oxford, were, left to right, Tony Crofts, Becky Crofts, Louise Vidand, the Rev Sidney Hinkes and Fred Porter.

Mr Crofts, a journalist and former film critic, from Stonesfield, said they believed the sort of violence re-enacted in Rambo encouraged hooliganism.
