POSITIVE cases of coronavirus in Oxfordshire have risen by 21 in the latest figures.

Zero deaths were reported in the county in the latest statistics, released by the Government.

The new cases were recorded as follows:

Oxford (seven)

• Cherwell (eight)

• South Oxfordshire (zero)

Vale of White Horse (four)

• West Oxfordshire (two)

These latest figures mean there has now been a total of 34,018 recorded cases of Covid-19 in the county.

Across the UK, 2,657 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported today.

Between May 7 and today, 16,079 people had a confirmed positive test result.

This shows an increase of 12.4 per cent compared to the previous seven days.

There were 11 deaths in the UK within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported in the latest figures.

Between May 7 and today, there has been 68 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test.

This shows a decrease of 16 per cent compared to the previous seven days.

The latest vaccination figures reveal that almost 36 million people have been given a first dose, while almost 19 million people have been given a second dose.
