One Cowley resident fed up with LTNs in her neighbourhood has shared her experience of the divisive measures...

LTN = Local Traffic Nightmare, an apt description coined by one of my neighbours.

We live in the Temple Cowley LTN and, for the first month of the LTN experiment, lived happily in our road without any block, despite one being earmarked for us.

Then, sadly, a bollard was installed.

This made little difference to through traffic but increased our inconvenience and pushed more traffic into queues on Oxford and Cowley Roads.

The “low traffic” concept is fine – but should apply equally everywhere.

The nightmare reality is that many are now disadvantaged with high traffic – displaced and gridlocked – longer journeys, more pollution, and delayed deliveries and services.

Not everyone can work from home or walk/cycle everywhere.

Carers, key workers, parents, small businesses, taxis, families, residents, those who work away from home, and others who need to drive are adversely affected.

Relatively short journeys now take 1-2 hours in slow-moving or static traffic.

We need shorter routes, sensible access, and free-flowing traffic to improve air quality for all – which the current scheme is not delivering. This divisive and poorly implemented scheme is already a failed experiment. Get your councillors to reconsider this scheme and reopen our roads.
