OXFORD MAGISTRATES’ COURT

JACK CHAPPLE, 32, of Cope Close, Botley, was convicted of harassment between January 1 and March 26 by sending a large amount of phone calls and messages to a man. He also admitted sending a voice message that conveyed a threat on March 26. He was jailed for 12 weeks suspended for 18 months because the offence is so serious, and the ‘persistent harassment to the victim' caused a 'lasting impact'. Chapple's previous record was also taken into account. In that time he must attend appointments with a responsible officer for 20 days. He has also been made the subject of a restraining order and must not contact the victim for two years. He must pay compensation of £500, a victim surcharge of £128 and court costs of £85.

SAMUEL RICHARDSON, 33, of Foxborough Road, Radley, admitted driving whilst disqualified and without third party insurance in Didcot on February 9. He was fined £615, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £62 and court costs of £85. He was also disqualified from driving for nine months.

CRISTIAN VASILIU, 47, of Fergusson Road, Banbury, admitted drink-driving on March 10 in Banbury. He had 134mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35mcg. He was jailed for 10 weeks, suspended for 12 months because the offence is ‘so serious and he had a high reading’. In the court documents it also said he was a ‘potential danger to other road users’. As part of the suspended sentence he must carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £128 and court costs of £85. He is disqualified from driving for 32 months.

ANTHONY WEBBER, 40, of Buckler Road, Oxford, admitted using threatening and abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress on July 18 in Oxford. He was fined £160, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and court costs of £250.

CALLUM JARVIS, 21, of Horsefair, Banbury, admitted criminal damage to an Audi car belonging to a man on March 21 in Banbury. He was made subject to a community order and as part of that must not take any alcohol for 30 days. He must also pay compensation of £158.14, court costs of £45 and a victim surcharge of £95.

WAHEED AKHTAR, 21, of Littlehay Road, Oxford, was convicted of being outside without a reasonable excuse during the coronavirus lockdown on November 27, at a Tesco car park in Buckinghamshire. He was fined £1,760, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £176 and court costs of £90.

JUNITO FERNANDES, 29, of Donnington Bridge Road, Oxford, admitted drink-driving on March 21 in Oxford. He had 56mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35mcg. He also admitted driving without a licence. He was fined £230, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and court costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 15 months.

RYAN KANE, 35, of Saxton Road, Abingdon, admitted stealing two bottles of vodka and a tropical drink, costing £28.80, from Aldi on Launton Road, Bicester on January 15. He also admitted using threatening behaviour likely to cause harassment at Market Place in Abingdon on September 8 and breaching a community order made by Oxford Magistrates’ Court on March 3. He was sentenced for the original offences and was made subject to a community order and as part of that must have treatment for his drug dependency under the direction of the National Probation Service for 12 months. He must pay compensation of £28.80 and a £40 fine.

JONATHAN COLE, 54, of Brasenose Drive, Kidlington, admitted assault by beating of an emergency worker on March 20. He was fined £800, ordered to pay compensation of £100, a victim surcharge of £80 and court costs of £85.

PATRICK MAUGHAN, 26, of Middle Ground, Wheatley, admitted breaching the requirements of a community order made by Ealing Magistrates’ Court on August 26 by failing to attend unpaid work sessions on February 11 and March 19 and not having a reasonable excuse. He was fined £75.

RICHARD BARLOW, 55, Of Withycombe Drive, Banbury, admitted drink-driving on January 9 in Bloxham. He had 148mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35mcg. He was jailed for four months suspended for 15 months. In that time he must not have any alcohol for 100 days. He must also attend appointments with a responsible officer for seven days. He was disqualified from driving for 36 months.

MARIUS CALIN, 28, of Cowley Road, Oxford, admitted drink-driving on Divinity Road, Oxford on April 18. He had 54mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35mcg. He also admitted being in possession of cocaine, a class A drug, at Abingdon Police Station, obstructing and resisting a police officer in his duty on April 18, driving without third party insurance and driving whilst disqualified. He was jailed for 30 weeks because of the serious nature of offence and breach of court orders. He was also fined £400, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and disqualified from driving for five years. He must forfeit the drugs to be destroyed.

MATTHEW WEBB, 39, of no fixed abode, admitted criminal damage to Clark’s Row Bail Hostel between May 24 and May 25 by damaging a window, costing £500. He was discharged conditionally for six months but was ordered to pay compensation of £250.

ELLIE GLENN, 21, of Bullingdon Road, Oxford, admitted being in possession of a lock knife in a public place on Reliance Way, Oxford on September 24. Se was jailed for three months, suspended for 18 months. In the court documents it said she had armed herself with the knife and made her way to an area near a school. Her good character and mitigation and guilty pleas were taken into account. In the next 18 months she must take part in the Women Programme for eight days and attend appointments with an officer for 22 days. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and court costs of £42.

RICHARD KINNAIRD, 40, of Catwell Close, Oxford, admitted racial, religiously aggravated harassment on February 2 in Oxford. He admitted being in possession of cannabis on February 12 in Oxfordshire. He was made subject to a community order and must carry out 60 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay compensation of £60.

JOSHUA RODNEY, 22, of Leiden Road ,Oxford, admitted damaging a wet floor cone at the Westgate Centre on March 22. He admitted using threatening words, actions or behaviour to cause alarm or distress at the Queen Street shopping centre. He was fined £40, ordered to pay compensation of £10, court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.
