NEARLY 19 million people have received their second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine as the NHS extended its vaccination programme to people aged 38 and 39 starting from tomorrow morning.
As of now, there have been zero deaths recorded in Oxfordshire, making it nearly six weeks without local victims.
The rate of infection in Oxfordshire now stands at 4,915 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 6,894.
According to the Government’s website, as of 4pm on Wednesday, there were eight new cases recorded in the county – a big drop from the 20 recorded on Monday.
These were the numbers for the past 24 hours by local authority:
l Oxford – 3
l West Oxfordshire – 2
l Vale of White Horse – 1
l Cherwell – 2
There are no new cases in South Oxfordshire.
The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:
l Oxford – 9,584
l Oxfordshire – 33,997
The UK has recorded a further 11 Covid-related deaths and 2,284 new cases, Public Health England confirmed.
The health body recently changed the way it records the figures.
Cases identified through a positive lateral flow test – those which can deliver results within half an hour – will no longer be counted if the person then takes a PCR test, which is sent to a lab to be checked, and receives a negative result within three days.
Currently, 67.8 per cent of adults have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and nearly 35 per cent have received their second.
