An Oxfordshire pharmacy has been crowned the best in the county.

Nadia Amin and the team at Roundway Pharmacy in Risinghurst have won the Oxfordshire Pharmacy Hero Award from Pharmacy Thames Valley which represents, supports and develops community pharmacy.

They received their award from David Dean, chief officer of Thames Valley Local Pharmaceutical Committee.

A spokesperson said: “Our Oxfordshire Community Pharmacies have been on the frontline during the Covid-19 pandemic and, despite huge challenges, have been open and available throughout, ensuring that their patients receive the medicines and healthcare advice they need.

“To recognise just some of that hard work we have been running a Community Pharmacy Hero Award Scheme. It is a testament to the fantastic work of all our teams that we had an incredible response with hundreds of nominations."

The judging panel was made up of representatives of the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

Ms Amin and her team were highly praised by members of the local community.

Comments included: “Nadia and the team at the Roundway Pharmacy go above and beyond their duties to ensure that our community is safe and well by visiting, phoning and reassuring residents.”

“They make a fantastic contribution to the local community, providing trusted help and advice.”

“Their attitude in the pharmacy is to help everyone who passes through the door!”

Ms Amin said: "The past year has shown the vital role community pharmacy has in bringing together a wider community to care for each other and support vulnerable residents at a difficult time.

“Providing this service with my team has been a challenging but ultimately fulfilling experience and having the support of our residents makes it worthwhile.

“We would encourage everyone to use their local pharmacies and the wide range of free services available to all.

“Thank you to the residents that nominated us, and the Thames Valley LPC for this recognition."

Other Oxfordshire nominees were Apollo Pharmacy, Chipping Norton Pharmacy, Jardines Bicester, Kidlington Pharmacy, Marston Pharmacy, Rowlands Manzil Way, Rowlands Wood Farm, Tesco Abingdon, The Leys Pharmacy, Wheatley Pharmacy, Woodlands Pharmacy Oxford and Woodstock Road Chemist.
