WHILE ON his Sunday stroll, retired photographer John Welsby, spotted a group of canoeing enthusiasts enjoying the low water levels on Oxford's Castle Mill Stream.

Mr Welsby, who lives on St Thomas Street near the stream’s edge, said he had seen the canoeists there on the ‘odd occasion’, and assumed it was dependent on the water levels.

He said: “There were about nine or 10 canoes there, and it was a really nice day.

“It was nice to see people out, there was a lot of colour on the stream, and everyone was having a good time, enjoying the stream which is basically an underused bit of water.

“No one uses it for anything – it's just a stream – but they were having a really good time.”
