A DRIVER was rescued by police after getting stuck on the side of the A34 but things didn't go as expected when their van was towed away by the cops.

Pictures show the van, which has blue branding and blacked out windows, trapped in the stones on the grass verge next to the busy stretch.

Officers from Thames Valley's Roads Policing Unit said they arrived to help get the van back on the road but quickly realised it had not been taxed in over a year.

Writing on Twitter, the team said: "Upon coming to the drivers rescue we discovered they didn't feel the need to take out tax in over a year. Vehicle seized!"
