A BIZARRE sign has appeared in a farmer's field on the M40.

The giant poster, which has not been credited to anybody or group, has been pinned to a wooden triangle noticeboard near Thame on the motorway.

It says: "8,000 tourists a day in?...but we're not allowed out?"

Oxford Mail:

The sign doesn't reference any data however similar figures have been widely reported on.

According to Border Force estimates shared with The Times last month, of the roughly 20,000 people arriving at the UK's borders each day, around 40 per cent - or 8,000 - are tourists.

The government was put under pressure by the opposition to clarify whether the figures are correct.

It comes as England emerges out of lockdown with restrictions due to ease again in the next few weeks.

However, it is still illegal to travel abroad for holidays or any other leisure purposes after travel corridors were suspended at the beginning of the year.

Anybody coming in to the UK must quarantine for 10 days and take two coronavirus tests.

If you have been in a country on the travel ban red list in the 10 days before you arrive, you will need to quarantine in a government-approved hotel.
