MORE than 50 police officers raided homes in Oxford and South Oxfordshire and made three arrests.

The raids, which took place on Thursday evening, were part of Operation Sceptre - a national week of action designed to crack down on the threat of knife crime in the Thames Valley.

Two men from Oxford, aged 20 and 21 were arrested and a 28-year-old man from Thame was arrested.

The arrests were made for offences linked to weapons, child abduction, drugs and money laundering.

Thames Valley Police Oxford said in a tweet: "We take reports of the possession of weapons and the exploitation of children extremely seriously, and urge you to contact us with any info on 101, 999 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800555111."
