THERE have been no Covid-19 deaths in Oxfordshire for nearly a month, the latest figures show.

The rate of infection in Oxfordshire now stands at 4,881 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 6,848.

According to the Government’s website, as of 4pm on Wednesday, there were 26 new cases recorded in the county – double the number of cases from the day before.

The last death recorded in the county happened on March 30.

The UK has recorded a further 29 Covid-related deaths and 2,166 new cases, Public Health England confirmed.

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government’s mass testing programme.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

The number of people who have received their second dose of a vaccine in the UK has surpasses 13 million.

The number of people who have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine has nearly reached 34 million.
