A sneak peak of the new look Tesco Metro on Cowley Road has been revealed.

The shop, which has closed so 137 student flats can be built above it, will have new signs and hoarding added to the exterior once finished.

The illuminated signs would feature new Tesco branding, as well as pictures of food and drink sold by the shop.

Tesco said the plans would be 'completed under controlled, safe condition'.

More space for graves could be added to the Old Marston Cemetery.

The cemetery off Elsfield Road is maintained by the local parish council.

A letter sent on behalf of the parish council said the cemetery extension would add 0.14 hectares to the current burial place.

The extension would run south of the current cemetery onto a small field, north of some nearby allotments.

Two public footpaths running near the cemetery would be maintained as before.

A temporary car park, put up in haste on land in Oxford University's Radcliffe Observatory Quarter during the pandemic is in need of official permission.

The car park on the vacant plot in the middle of the Observatory Quarter was created temporarily after the first stay at home order was issued last year.

But the University was then told it needed planning permission in June 2020.

In a letter to planning chiefs, the University said: "The temporary car park will allow staff, who cannot work from home, to commute to Oxford safely, reducing the spread of the virus and protecting university staff, students, residents and the NHS."

Oxford University also recently applied for permission to build a storage cupboard for hand sanitiser on the vacant plot at the centre of the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter.

Merton College's historic boathouse at Christ Church Meadow could be extended.

The boathouse could have a boat workshop built to the rear and store room added onto the side of it, if plans are given the go ahead.

The new extension would mimic the style of the redbrick boathouse building, constructed in the 1930s.

A report from the college's planning agents said: " the applicant’s development proposal for this property has provided a considered and coherent design which fits well within the existing developed surrounding properties and river frontage enhancing the character of the main building."

Plans for the revamped interior of Oxford's famous Randolph Hotel have been submitted for special approval.

The Randolph is a Grade-II listed building and special permission is needed to carry out works including fitting new lights throughout the building.

Chicago-based chain Graduate Hotels bought the Beaumont Street hotel in 2019, closed it on October 17 and made 75 of the 84 staff redundant in order to carry out a massive renovation programme.

A report by planning agents said: "The lighting scheme demonstrates a sensitive approach to better illuminate the rooms as well as better reveal the architecturally significant features where possible."
