A permanent post-office will re-open in Burford in early summer.

The new branch will be at 29 Lower High Street next door to where the current temporary post-office operates.

It will be open seven days a week and customers of UK banks will be able to use it to access accounts.

Services will include bill payment, cash withdrawals and foreign currency, postage and internet shopping collections and returns. It will also sell magazines and newspapers.

A temporary post-office is currently based in the deli Bumbles of Burford and operators Steve and Sally Colter have taken on the extra premises for a new branch.

There will be a complete refurbishment to create a modern, open-plan retail environment with a ramp for wheelchair access.

Opening hours are Monday to Sunday, 7am to 5.30pm which is earlier than the current opening hours.

The existing branch will close on May 29 at 1pm and the new branch will open on Tuesday June 1 at 1pm.

Burford’s previous post office closed last December after the resignation of the Postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.

Feedback on the move can be submitted at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 158558 until May 20.
