THERE have been no Covid-19 deaths in Oxfordshire in the past 24 hours, making it nearly three weeks since the last death was recorded in the county.

However, according to the Government’s website, as of 4pm on Monday, there were 38 new cases recorded in the county – nearly double the number of cases from the day prior.

The rate of infection in Oxfordshire now stands at 4,857 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 6,817.

The last death recorded in the county happened on March 30.

These were the numbers for the past 24 hours by local authority:

l West Oxfordshire – 7

l Vale of White Horse – 6

l Cherwell – 17

The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:

l Oxford – 9,447

l Oxfordshire – 33,594

The UK has recorded a further four Covid-related deaths and 2,963 new cases, Public Health England confirmed.

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government’s mass testing programme.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

The number of people who have received their second dose of a vaccine in the UK has reached ten million.

The number of people who have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine has reached 33 million.
