AN ALERT neighbour foiled an attempted break-in at an Oxford bike shop.

The Electric Transport Shop reported that two people tried to break in to the Magdalen Road store using bolt cutters on Friday night.

However, a neighbour called 999, alerting the authorities to what was going on.

The people were then apprehended at the site along with the tools for the break-in.

Since opening in 2008, there has now been five burglary attempts at the shop, with only one successful.

Thames Valley Police confirmed the force arrested two men on suspicion of attempted burglary.

The 39-year-old and 25-year-old men, both from Oxford, have been released under investigation.
