Airfield filming: From May 3, the county council proposes to close the byway which runs south from Honeybottom Lane into the Abingdon airfield.

This is due to ‘safety, security and privacy measures’ so that filming can take place at the airfield.

The filming is being organised by SDTA Productions, a television programme production company.

Work on the set at Dalton Barracks, a military base near Abingdon, began recently including the construction of a life-size model of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress aeroplane.

It is believed that Masters of the Air, a Second World War miniseries being produced for Apple TV, is due to be filmed at the barracks.

The show is going to be a follow up to the Emmy award-winning Second World War miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

It is rumoured that Hollywood royalty Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are both involved in the production of Masters of the Air.

Exemptions to the order issued by the county council are included for emergency services.

Appropriate warning signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

The order will remain in force, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps, until December 31.

Housing inquiry: An inquiry regarding 125 new houses will open later this month.

Welbeck Land has made an appeal, regarding to an application submitted to the Vale of White Horse District Council.

The outline planning application was for up to 125 new homes near Coxwell Road, Faringdon.

The application was refused on August 27 last year, with an appeal lodged on January 12.

An inspector will now hold the inquiry, which will open on April 27 at 10am.

The inquiry will be held as a virtual event, with parties invited to join via Microsoft Teams or by telephone.

Anyone wishing to attend the inquiry must make their interest known to the planning inspectorate case officer as soon as possible, prior to the inquiry.

When contacting the case officer, confirmation of whether an active part in the proceedings is deemed helpful.

To view the planning application, search the district council website using the planning reference P18/V0259/O.

Fibre optic cables: Thames Street in Charlbury is set to be closed for about two weeks later this month.

From April 26, the street will be closed due to fibre optic cables installation works.

The effect of the traffic order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles using the length of Thames Street from the baptist church to the junction with Nine Acres Lane.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic is via Nine Acres Lane (B4439), Enstone Road, Market Street and vice versa.
