NON-ESSENTIAL retail was allowed to reopen again yesterday, as the first of the Government’s Covid restrictions began to be lifted.

Bicester Village was among the shops that reopened across the county, and was very busy with shoppers queuing for hours to get into the designer outlet stores.

Here is what our reader’s had to say about the video’s of Bicester Village on Monday:

AMY HICKS: “Lockdown 4.0 coming soon.”

PHILLIP HEATON: “Most have masks on?

“Can’t we let people use common sense.”

PHIL REAY: “Good to see.”

ROBERT SANDERS: “Unreal wait until the weekend and it will be 10 times worse.”

SHAY WALKER: “I wish I was there.”

STEVEN VERGE MERCER: “Here we go again.”

JOY SLADE: “Let’s watch the Covid cases return with a vengeance.”

RICKY TAYLOR: “People must have been so hard done by not being able to visit this place.

“Absolute joke.”

JANE HIBBERD: “At least most are wearing a mask this time.”

HAYLEY DAVIES: “It is okay, we will be back in lockdown by September.”

IAN JACKMAN: “Too many people about, lockdown on the way.”

CRAIG CHARLETT: “Good to see people enjoying themselves.”

BRANDO NINA: “We are going to be back in lockdown within a month.”

MIKE SMITH: “Yes, Covid cases will rise but the theory is that the people who are likely to end up in hospital should have been vaccinated by now so should not be putting pressure on the NHS.

“Of the rest who catch it, most will not be seriously ill and will increase herd immunity.”

HAYLEY LALLY: “Ridiculous.”

PHIL REAY: “So what do you suggest?

“Endless lockdowns with the Government’s endless three word slogans, coming out of the radio every two minutes to scare the easily led, I would rather take my chances thank you.”

MARK HUGHES: “Third lockdown coming in July or August.”

YAN SAN: “The Government won’t be able to pay our wages or mortgages for that much longer only when furlough ceases and things turn really tough, will people’s attitudes change?

“Clearly, Covid is very adaptable, it seeks out optimal hosts and without question will impact the younger, unvaccinated, demographic.

“We are not out of the woods yet.”

CLARE JAMES: “Wow, what a judgemental lot - no one is forcing anyone to go out, stay at home if you prefer.

“It was heartwarming to see who many out in our local town this morning - back to its happy, bustling self.

“Its a much-needed boost for retail and hospitality.”

STEFANIA MONTERISI: “Can’t see what is so urgent to buy on the very first day and that was worth two hours queue.”

CAROLYN SIMMONDS: “What a joke - most overpriced, over hyped place ever.

“Usually only tourists there.”

ADAM HEPPELL: “I see a pattern here. didn’t this happen just before Christmas, then boom back into lockdown?”

KAREN KAZ MUSILOVA: “If your only priority is to go to a designer shopping centre, then that’s pretty sad.

“Almost as sad and pathetic as the hoardes of people queuing outside the barbers this morning.”

AMIE PHILLIPS: “Honestly, if you do not like it shop online.

“I literally have been in clothes shops and had people like ‘there is no social distancing.

“Don’t be a part of it, then moan about it.”

LAUREN FISHER: “I hope those businesses have a great first day back open.

“Most importantly, thousands of people have been able to return to work.

“It must be a massive mental health boost.”
