EMERGENCY beds are available for people experiencing rough sleeping.
Oxford City Council has activated its severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) to make the beds available.
Beds were available from this morning, and will remain so until Wednesday morning, when the weather is due to get warmer.
The council activates SWEP on every night the Met Office forecasts freezing overnight temperatures and other severe weather conditions such as snow on the ground, sub-zero ‘feels like’ temperatures and a warmer night in the middle of a freezing spell.
The council said SWEP will probably close on Wednesday given the current forecast of warmer overnight temperatures, however the situation will be kept under review.
