Kidlington chairman Nick Duval says they accept the Home Counties Premier League's decision not to punish Burnham for allegedly fielding an ineligible player against them in the final game last season, writes Ed Mezzetti.

The ruling, which was made last week, confirms Aston Rowant's relegation from Division 2 West to The Oxford Times Cherwell League, while Burnham stay up.

But Duval said Kidlington were "a little bit confused" over how the inquiry was conducted.

"We have no complaint with how it was finally resolved," he said.

"The situation was that the umpires were unable to determine the identity of the players that played.

"We find that quite acceptable, but it has taken a long time to be resolved."

However, Duval added: "Our complaint was not about the identity of two players that played in the game.

"It was about one player we know they put on the results sheet, who didn't play in the game."

Kidlington were convinced Shazad Baig did not feature in the match despite being listed by Burnham, as they played against him in July.

"I understand that the umpires were asked to look at some photographs and to confirm who the two players were that played in the game.

"We are in December now, the match was played on September 7. That's a long time ago.

"I thought that was tough really. At the end of the day we don't have a preference for Burnham or Rowant.

"We felt as though the rules of the Home Counties Premier League hadn't been adhered to."

Aston Rowant were unavailable for comment.
