AN ECO-CONSCIOUS nine-year-old girl has set out to clean up the Oxfordshire countryside by walking 100 miles and collecting litter on the way.
Rosie Mills, of Nuffield near Wallingford, said she had been been shocked at the amount of beer cans, energy drink cans and dog poo bags in her area.
Teaming up with her cousin Alexa in Essex, the pair have been walking and picking up litter and updating each other on their progress with online video chats.
The cousins have also asked people to sponsor them, and have raised more than £2,000 for the charity Rewilding Britain which aims to restore ecosystems.

And even after collecting mounds of rubbish and walking 100 miles, the eco-friendly pair are not planning on stopping and will continue to clear litter from the countryside.
Rosie’s mum Diana Mills said her daughter was fascinated by nature and aspired to be a vet. She explained the cousins have created a Facebook page called TeamChipmunk for the challenge which all started after a trip to Canada.
She said: “The girls were amazed by the wildlife they saw in Canada, and they developed this thing called TeamChipmunk, and the rules are to be kind to wildlife.
“They want to save the wildlife because they are really climate conscious at the moment.”
Rosie and Alexa have received an overwhelming amount of anonymous support for their fundraising and have been keeping everyone updated on their Team Chipmunk’s 100 Mile March Facebook page.
