ONE person has died in Oxfordshire in the last 24 hours after testing positive for Covid-19, the latest official figures show.
The death, which happened in Cherwell, takes the total number of Covid-19 victims in the county to 717.
According to the Government’s website, as of 4.30pm on Tuesday, there were 46 new cases recorded in the county – a rise of 9 from the ones recorded on Monday.
The rate of infection in Oxfordshire now stands at 4,717 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 6,638.

These were the numbers for the past 24 hours by local authority:
l Oxford – 20
l South Oxfordshire – 9
l West Oxfordshire – 6
l Vale of White Horse – 7
l Cherwell – 4
The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:
l Oxford – 9,174
l Oxfordshire – 32,624
The UK has recorded a further 110 Covid-related deaths and 5,294 new cases, Public Health England has confirmed.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.
Oxfordshire's cases were among the 527,218 recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 458 over the period.
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
The virus infection rate in England has also hit the lowest level since September as the R number fell to between 0.6 and 0.8 on Friday.
