A TEENAGER has been jailed after stabbing a man to death with a screwdriver in Oxford

Robin Williamson, of Awgar Stone Road, Oxford, was killed in Wood Farm in 2019.

Today at Oxford Crown Court a 17-year-old boy from Milton Keynes, who cannot be named for legal reasons because of his age, has been sentenced to four years and four months in prison after admitting manslaughter.

He was due to stand trial for murder but entered a guilty plea for the lesser charge last month which was accepted by the prosecution.

It comes after Mr Williamson was attacked on October 27, 2019.

It wasn't until he went to hospital on November 4 that the incident was reported to the police.

Six days later, on November 10, at around 4pm doctors at the John Radcliffe Hospital confirmed his death.

In April last year, his cause of death had not yet been established and his inquest was shelved to give police more time to investigate the details.

But when the teenager appeared at the same court on February 4, it was revealed that Mr Williamson died as a result of a screwdriver attack.

A 16-year-old boy from Banbury was also due to stand trial last month but has been acquitted of all charges.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Bosley, said: “I am satisfied that the teenager in this case has admitted his involvement and has now been sentenced.

“This case shows once again the consequences that assaulting someone with a weapon can have and the subsequent impact on family, friends and our communities.

“Our thoughts remain with Mr Williamson’s friends and family and I hope that the sentencing will bring some closure to them.

“I would like to thank Mr Williamson’s family for their support throughout the investigation.”
