FIRE crews raced to an unattended bonfire that could have spread to neighbouring buildings.

The incident happened at around 4.15am yesterday when the crew from Henley fire station were sent to the fire on the outskirts of the town.

The fire service said that on arrival it was clear that there was no one on site and that the fire could have easily spread to surrounding buildings if left any longer.

A video was posted by the fire service on Facebook showing the huge blaze.

Using main jets and a few thousand litres of water, the fire was put out and was no longer in danger of causing any harm to the nearby environment.

Advice was given to the landowner later on in the morning.
