TWO people have died in Oxfordshire after testing positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours as the Prime Minister unveiled the Government roadmap out of lockdown restrictions.

The deaths recorded in West Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse takes the total number of people who have died from the virus in the county to 701.

According to the Government’s website, as of 4pm on Monday, there were 73 new cases in the county.

These were the numbers for the past 24 hours by local authority:

l Oxford – 15

l South Oxfordshire – 11

l West Oxfordshire – 5

l Vale of White Horse – 18

l Cherwell – 24

The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:

l Oxford – 8,915

l Oxfordshire – 31,718

Separate data from NHS England revealed that six new coronavirus deaths had been recorded at the Oxford Trust in the latest 24-hour period.

Daily death counts are revised every day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means that some of the deaths that were first recorded in the latest period may actually have taken place days earlier.

The trust recorded 17 deaths in the past week, up from 14 the previous week.

Public Health England confirmed that the UK has recorded a further 178 Covid-related deaths and 10,641 new cases.

The total number of people who have now received their first dose of a vaccine has reached nearly 18 million.
