BICESTER has paid tribute to a member of staff at a high street shop who has passed away.

Tracey Jones, who worked at Poundland on Sheep Street, has died, and as a mark of respect, the store put a photo of her on the shop window yesterday and closed for the day.

Residents have paid tribute to Ms Jones on the Bicester Chat Facebook page:

Sara Malcolm said: "Condolences to the family. Tracey will be missed, she was a lovely lady."

Julie Doyle said: "It is so sad and will be greatly missed by everyone. Such a lovely lady."

Jo Reynolds commented: "So very sad, a beautiful soul who will be greatly missed."

Zoe Boreham said: "Always remember her smiling in store, she always looked like she enjoyed being at her job."

Robert Thurlow said: "A lovely person. We grew up together at primary school and secondary school. Sadly missed."

People have also praised Poundland for closing, showing respect at a difficult time.

Serinne Mills Curtis said: "Well done Poundland putting staff before profits. Sending thought and hugs to you all at this sad time."

Damian Tarnowski commented: "So sad and at the same time well done Poundland for what you have done regardless of profits during this difficult time for all of us.

"Such a great thing you have done that not many companies would do. RIP and you (Ms Jones) will definitely be missed by many of us. Thoughts are with your close friends and family."
