AN OXFORDSHIRE couple won a special Valentine’s Day meal from a local pub.

Paul and Samantha Butler-McLees, from Chipping Norton, were rewarded after winning a competition to find those who deserved a treat.

Customers of Oakman Inns were asked to nominate couples as a thank you for what they have done for the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Chipping Norton couple met 12 years ago on a first aid training course that Mr Butler-McLees was facilitating.

The couple had a four-course ‘Make-Away’ delivered to them by Oakman Inns’ deputy general manager at the Blue Boar in Witney, Michael Cowley.

There was also room for a bottle of fizz, a bunch of flowers for the table and a £100 voucher to spend on a meal at an Oakman Inns pub when they are allowed to reopen.

Earlier this year, with pubs locked down, the chain introduced a meal box delivery service, Oakman at Home, with instructions on how to finish the meals from home.

Mr and Mrs Butler-McLees were nominated by their friend Catherine Ball.
