It sells essential items such as produced food, plants, toiletries and essential household items.

Since the first lockdown in March 2020, the market has been operating with Covid safe measures that have been praised by both customers and stallholders.

These measures include:

  • Limited customer numbers in the market at any one time
  • Chalk markings to ensure social distancing
  • Clear signage reminding customers to stay safe and keep their distance
  • QR Track and Trace code
  • Hand sanitiser points and hand washing facilities
  • Priority queuing for NHS and vulnerable customers
  • Additional community volunteers to help run the market

These measures have continued to be used, even when lockdown restrictions were ease, and the market has seen a significant increase in customers as a result.

The market has been running since 2006.
