NINE people have died in Oxfordshire after testing positive for coronavirus.

According to Public Health England, four people died in Cherwell, three people died in Oxford, and two people died in the Vale of White Horse and West Oxfordshire areas.

Separate NHS data shows that one person died at hospital in Oxfordshire by 5pm yesterday – meaning that the other eight victims who died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 result passed away at home, in a care home or hospice.

At Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), the trust responsible for the John Radcliffe, Churchill, Nuffield and Horton Hospitals, 33 patients were admitted to hospital with coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

That brings the total number of patients in hospital with coronavirus to 238. Of those, 36 are on ventilation.

At Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust one patient was admitted to a community or mental health hospitals with coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

That brings the total number of patients who have tested positive current in the hospitals to 19. Of those, none are on ventilation.
