A MAN has been sentenced for carrying an imitation gun at Plush nightclub.

Jamie Lewis, of Harcourt Terrace, Headington, appeared in the dock of Oxford Magistrates’ Court on January 14.

The 24-year-old admitted carrying the 9mm blank calibre self-loading pistol at the nightclub on August 30, 2019.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, an imitation firearm is anything that has the appearance of being a firearm but is not capable of firing any shots, bullets or missiles.

The court documents described the pistol Lewis was carrying as an Italian, top-venting, Valtro model.

He was made the subject of a community order and must carry out 60 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.

He has also been ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £90 and court costs of £85.
