A Christmas card designed by schoolgirl Bethany Brown will be going out with season's greetings from Witney MP and Conservative Party leader David Cameron.

It was chosen as the winning design from hundreds entered in a competition from primary schools in Carterton, and is now Mr Cameron's adopted 2007 card. But dozens more will be going out from Bethany's parents Amanda and Paul Brown, and her brother Ben, eight, of Queens Road, Carterton.

"I have been buying up loads of them," said Mrs Brown. "If your child has designed them, you're proud for her. I think nearly every member of our family will also be using it as their Christmas card for this year."

Bethany, 11, a pupil at Gateway Primary School, created the design in her after-school art club. It shows a giant Santa looking down on her school, the Town Hall and St John's Church.

Entitled A Carterton Christmas, the card also shows a military plane from nearby RAF Brize Norton. Most of the pupils at the school come from families with servicemen on the base.

Schools in Carterton were asked to design Mr Cameron's Christmas card, following previous competitions in Witney, Chipping Norton and Woodstock.

Bethany's success won her school £200, and £50 for a charity of her choice. She is presenting the cheque to Witney's Minor Injuries Unit next Tuesday. Mrs Brown added: "She recently did an Imps (Injury Minimisation Programme for Schools) course there, teaching first aid, and really enjoyed it. Nearly every member of the family's had to use it, so it's a good choice."

A spokesman for Gateway Primary said: "We're delighted Bethany's card was chosen. Every child who took part enjoyed doing the competition."
