FIVE Covid-19 deaths have been announced in Oxfordshire, the lowest recorded number in the county this week.

According to the Government's website, as of 4pm on Sunday there were 288 new cases in Oxfordshire.

These were the numbers in 24 hours by local authority:

Oxford - 80

South Oxfordshire - 75

West Oxfordshire - 31

Vale of White Horse - 41

Cherwell - 61

Oxfordshire recorded five deaths, one of which was in Oxford, two were in South Oxfordshire and two in Cherwell.

The total coronavirus cases since the pandemic started:

Oxford - 7,898

Oxfordshire - 28,243

Public Health England confirmed that the UK has recorded a further 610 Covid-related deaths in the latest reporting period, along with another 30,004 cases.

The government figures below include confirmed cases only as some people who have the virus are not tested.

This brings the total number of people who have died from Covid-19 to 97,939.

Sunday's data reveals that 6,353,321 have had at least their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine – a rise of almost half a million on Saturday's figure.

Almost a million people received a first dose over the last two days, suggesting there is no weekend lag when it comes to vaccinations.

The number of people who received a second dose reached 469,660.

The R number, which estimates the growth rate of the pandemic, currently sits at between 0.8 and 1.
