Environmentally conscious residents in Wallingford have made it their mission to keep the town tidy.

Residents have started to give their daily exercise during lockdown some purpose by litter picking.

The local charity Wallingford 1155 usually holds community litter picks to keep the town tidy, but due to the pandemic these events have been put on hold.

Instead of holding big litter picking events individuals and families have decided to take a plastic bag along with them around the town or on their way to work or school to pick up any litter they find.

Facebook group ‘Grab a Bag Wallingford’ promotes individual litter-picking and encourages people to share how much litter they have cleared.

Wallingford 1155 had a Covid safe litter pick in September in conjunction with the national campaign to ‘keep Britain tidy’ and could be organising another one when restrictions have eased.
