Tributes have been paid to Lloyd Calcutt, a beloved Oxford United fan and ‘extraordinary person’.

Mr Calcutt, who lived in Witney, died aged 38 in the early hours of Tuesday morning after battling with Covid-19.

The Witney local will be remembered as ‘a son, a brother, an uncle, a stepson, a fellow football fan and a friend to so many people’.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Mr Calcutt’s family with funeral costs and a memorial of their choosing.

At time of writing the page has raised more than £17,800.

Mr Calcutt’s sister, Bethany Calcutt-Snow paid tribute to her brother on Facebook.

She said: “I am still in complete shock, I’m absolutely heartbroken, and I can’t describe the pain that I am currently feeling.

“Not only was he my big brother but he was the best uncle to Marnie, she absolutely idolised him and he thought the world of her.

“I’ve got so many memories of us that I will cherish forever. If love could’ve kept him alive, he would have lived forever, he was known and loved by so so many people.”

Verity Shayler, who organised the donation page, wrote: “His presence brought happiness to any room, the life and soul of any party.

“We’re lucky to have known him, privileged in fact, and many hearts have truly broken, now that he is no longer with us.”
