A MAN who performed a sex act in a car in front a child will be sentenced next month.

Simon Clarke, also known as Saifuddin, sobbed in a prison room over video link as he was told he wouldn’t be sentenced today as planned.

Judge Michael Gledhill QC told the court that he would prefer to sentence him in person and adjourned the hearing to prepare reports on ‘how dangerous’ Clarke is.

It comes after an incident at around 8.30am on December 17 when he was seen performing a sexual act on himself in a car in front of a 13-year-old girl.

Clarke was arrested on December 18, charged on December 19 and first appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on December 21.

There he was sent to Oxford Crown Court for sentencing and appeared over video link dressed in a grey tracksuit yesterday morning.

The 36-year-old, of Church Road, Caversham, has also been charged with breaching a sexual harm prevention order made by Winchester Magistrates’ Court on July 14.

The judge explained that it was a ‘very serious matter’ and said he would not want to sentence Clarke over video link, hoping that by February 23 it would be possible for him to attend court safely.
