Farmoor Reservoir Fishery posted on Facebook today with the news that the Oxfordshire reservoir is now closed to the public until further notice.
The reason for the closure is not yet known, however, many visitors to Farmoor Reservoir commented on the post and suggested it has been closed due to large numbers of people visiting the area and not social distancing.
Mark Howard commented on the Farmoor Reservoir Fishery Facebook post and said: “Sad news for the locals but fully justifiable. They have been up there in their hundreds, in big groups too. How can it be considered "local" if they have to drive there? Clear breach of the rules and putting everyone at risk.”

Charles Avery commented: “Well done Farmoor, I hope the gates are locked and keeping everybody out and removes a high-risk area. Happy new year to all rangers”
The reservoir is owned by Thames Water and it usually welcomes visitors to walk, fish and sail in the area.
Thames Water has been contacted for more information.
