FLY-TIPPERS dumped piles of rubbish at a recycling site just days after Christmas.

West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC) reported that the Aston Road site in Ducklington was cleared yesterday morning.

A spokesman for the council said: “Our crews are working hard to remove as much waste as possible from bring sites such as this but residents will appreciate that levels are far higher at this time of year and there may be some delays in clearing these sites.

“If the bins are full, then take waste home – do not dump it at the site as this is illegal.

“Residents should use the kerbside collection service as much as possible and we have brought in additional resources.

“Excess cardboard can be placed alongside the recycling bin cut up into A3 size and it will be collected.

“Alternatively, take it to the Dix Pit recycling centre.”

Last month, WODC’s cabinet agreed to the permanent removal of bring sites in a ‘structured and managed way’.

However, the decision was subject to a formal call-in request, enabling a reconsideration of the move.

Concerns were raised at the meeting about the knock-on effect of fly-tipping.
