THERE have been reports of flooding in areas of West Oxfordshire today.

Photos sent to the Oxford Mail show particularly bad flooding in Hailey Road, to the north of Witney.

One resident said there was no flooding this morning, however after some ‘really heavy rain’, flooding started and is now ‘flowing like a river’.

Meanwhile, in a post on the Yarnton Community Facebook page, it is reported that both Rutten Lane and Cassington Road are ‘underwater following massive downpour’.

The post adds that water is up to the bottom of car doors and is only passable in 4x4 vehciles, with buses turning round.

The Met Office issued a weather warning for heavy rain earlier this week.

Forecasters said there was a ‘small chance’ that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly and a ‘slight chance’ of power cuts.

A yellow weather warning remains in place.
