THE new owner of a garage is looking forward to a fresh start after recovering from cancer.

Alex Renkevic, 26, has been appointed centre manager at ETB Autocentres in Witney, following a thyroid cancer diagnosis three years ago.

ETB is located at the former HiQ site in Swingburn Place.

Mr Renkevic, who has 10 years of automative aftermarket experience, has moved to Southmoor from the West Midlands.

He said: “I hope that my experiences can act as an inspiration for other people who might be struggling with their own issues.

“I managed to find light at the end of the tunnel with my own situation and while it can be difficult to look ahead with optimism during these times, the future can still be a bright one.

“My own personal journey hasn’t necessarily been an easy one, but aside from hospital checks every third month, things are good and I’m fit and healthy.

“Lots of people have their own hurdles to overcome, be it physically or mentally, but nothing need be insurmountable.

“Obviously, it has been a tough year for a number of reasons, but I do think the future can be a really positive one and I can’t wait for 2021 now.

“It has been a tough time for the industry generally, due to lockdown and the global pandemic, but I am already seeing signs of recovery.”

ETB has invested £10,000 in the garage to upgrade equipment and signage.
