A HORSE has died after being struck by a 4X4 in the early hours of the morning.

It was on the loose for several minutes before it collided with the car on the A417, near Ardington, at around 5am.

Thames Valley Police officers arrived to close the road to move the horse and a vet was called to confirm its death.

The car was severely damaged, but the driver escaped uninjured.

The owner of the horse has been told.

Police say they are not looking for any witnesses.
