A WALK-through coronavirus testing site has opened in West Oxfordshire.

People with symptoms can now book appointments at Woodford Way Car Park in Witney via nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.

The new site was chosen so it is easy to get to for people without a car.

Those being tested will need to follow public health measures, including social distancing, not travelling by taxi or public transport, and wearing a face covering throughout, including while travelling to and from the testing centre.

The are already two walk-through testing facilities in Oxford, one based in Osney Lane the other at Oxford Brookes University.

Drive-through testing is done at Oxford Parkway Park & Ride.

Oxford University also runs its own coronavirus testing for staff and students.

Testing at the new site started on Saturday, with appointments made available each day.

The site is part of a network of testing sites, which now includes 80 drive-through sites, 393 walk-through sites, 258 mobile units, home testing and satellite kits and six Lighthouse laboratories.

Anyone testing positive for the virus in England will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace to help them trace their contacts.

Close contacts of those testing positive will also hear from NHS Test and Trace, asking them to stay at home for 14 days.

They will be advised to also book a test if they develop symptoms.
