AN ANIMAL charity is trying to find homes in time for Christmas for some of its longest serving pets.

Burford-based Blue Cross is desperately seeking forever homes for pets such as Eric the dog, who has been searching for a home for almost 400 days.

Various animals across Blue Cross’ centres in Burford and Lewknor require a loving home.

The charity is also calling out to make sure pets in its care have an extra special Christmas Day by providing a Christmas dinner for them.

Hannah Wiltshire, centre manager at Blue Cross in Burford, said: “We hope anyone looking for a pet chooses a rescue who really deserves a second chance in life.

“While we always try and spoil the homeless pets a little bit more over Christmas, the team at the centre will be pulling together on Christmas Day to give all the homeless pets the Christmas they deserve and we hope our supporters will help by donating towards an extra special Christmas dinner for them.”

Pets such as 10-year-old Bobbi and 14-year-old Ralphy are among those Blue Cross is hoping to rehome.

“These beautiful cats have been without a proper home for such a long time and we really would like to see them enjoying the festive season with families of their own this Christmas,” said Ms Wiltshire.

Other pets searching for a home include:

  • Eric at Blue Cross Lewknor

Five-year-old Eric came into Blue Cross in November 2019 as his previous owner could no longer care for him.

He is described as fun-loving and playful but gets worried by other dogs, so his ideal home would be one where he is the only pet and with someone who has a set routine every day and has experience with owning and training dogs.

  • Eddie at Blue Cross Burford

Twenty-two-year-old Eddie is a warmblood/Hunter mare who is good to groom and handle and is very relaxed with human interaction.

Eddie is now looking for a new home as a companion horse. She is able to live out 24/7 with good shelter, and mixes well with other horses or ponies.

  • Bailey at Blue Cross Burford

Three-year-old Bailey is looking for a new partner this Christmas as his new home needs to have an existing neutered female rabbit who he can live with.

  • Thumper and Gus at Blue Cross Lewknor

Male guinea pigs Thumper and Gus are best friends looking for a home together. They are not used to children or other pets, but would be fine to live with older children.

  • Eddie and Freddie at Blue Cross Lewknor

Eddie and Freddie are friendly degus looking for a home together. They are looking for owners who have experience of owning degus or are willing to do a lot of research beforehand.

  • Greg and Charlie at Blue Cross Lewknor
