A MAN accused of assaulting a police officer while at Oxford Railway Station has been cleared after prosecutors dropped the case.
Dawit Habte was set to stand trial at Oxford Crown Court yesterday facing one count of assaulting an emergency worker.
Prosecutors had claimed that the 29-year-old of no fixed abode assaulted the police officer while at the city's railway station.

The offence was claimed to have taken place on January 2 this year.
At an earlier hearing Mr Habte - speaking with the aid of an interpreter - pleaded not guilty to the single count.
Yesterday, at the same court, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case and 'offered no evidence' against Habte.
It was said that there was 'no public interest to proceed.'
As a result a formal verdict of not guilty was recorded and the case was dropped altogether.
