A PRIMARY school at the heart of a new community in Oxfordshire held a poetry competition for its pupils.
GEMS Wantage Primary Academy, which is part of the Kingsgrove housing estate at Crab Hill, welcomed its first schoolchildren in September.
To mark the opening, housebuilder Bellway Homes organised the poetry competition for all of the new pupils to get them thinking about why they love Wantage so much.

The winning children were Lila Copley from Year 2 for ‘Best Imagination’ and Emily Hyde from Reception for ‘Best Picture’, who were both awarded £50 Smiggle vouchers.
Principal Leah Perring said: "It was fun for the kids to have a project like this to get involved in during their first half term and a lot of thought and creativity went into the poems."
The Kingsgrove estate at Crab Hill will eventually have 1,500 homes.
