WORK has begun on Swindon’s latest Lidl store.
The discount supermarket chain announced just before the first lockdown in March it would be opening up at the old Homebase unit at Greenbridge Retail Park.
It was originally slated for a spring 2021 opening but has since been pushed back to the summer of next year.
Pictures taken this week show the original entrance to Homebase has been demolished and the inside of the unit has been cleared out.
The new store will be Lidl's fourth store in the town and will create up to 30 new jobs and house an in-store bakery, customer toilet, baby changing and dual parking facilities.
It opened up its third at the Orbital Shopping Centre in February.
