THE driver of a car that crashed on the A34 yesterday had to be taken to hospital with injuries.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) received a 999 call at 2.21pm with the caller reporting that a car had left the carriageway of the A34 near the Hinksey Hill interchange.

A statement by SCAS continues: "We sent an ambulance to the scene and the driver had sustained a lower leg and chest injury. Following initial treatment at the scene they were then taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital."

The A34 was partially blocked in Oxford with traffic backed up until around 4pm.
