YEAR 10 students at an Oxford school have been sent home – on the same day the school was partially closed after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

Parents at St Gregory the Great Catholic School in Cowley were informed that there had been a positive case of Covid-19 for Year 10.

As a result, the year group must go home and self-isolate.

The school said it is following Public Health England guidelines.

It was already closed to two year groups, Years 8 and 9, today after a staff member tested positive.

The school is also at the centre of a trust merger, which is hoped will benefit the school rated ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted.
