A PAIR of fraudsters used another man's stolen bank cards to go on a spending spree to buy scratch cards and alcohol, a court heard.

In all Rachel Mason and Keanush Naimie pocketed £465 worth of items in various purchases made over a single day in Oxford.

Mason, 36, of Coley Avenue, Reading and Naimie, 41, of Rymers Lane, Oxford, had both already admitted counts of fraud by false representation.

A previous charge of burglary in relation to the cards was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

They both appeared for their sentencing at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

Prosecutors said that each of them had used stolen bank cards that had been taken previously from a man.

It was said that while they used those cards to buy items neither were said to be involved in the earlier theft.

The cards - from Barclays, Sainsbury's and Halifax accounts - were all used at shops in Oxford on August 14 this year.

Many of the transactions detailed included purchases of scratch cards as well as alcohol.

In mitigation Gordana Turudija-Austin, defending, said that her client - Naimie - had a gambling addiction as well as a drugs problem.

After the facts of the case had been detailed Recorder Peter Guest, presiding, said that a pre-sentence report should be obtained before sentencing Naimie.

For Mason no report from the National Probation Service was sought after her defence barrister said that one would only be obtained if her client wanted one.

The case was adjourned for sentencing so that a report can be completed on behalf of Naimie.

That sentencing hearing will take place at the same court on November 27.

Naimie was released on bail and Mason was remanded in custody.
