A TRIAL into the alleged historical sexual abuse of a teenage girl has entered its closing stages.

Two men began their trial at Oxford Crown Court earlier this week after being charged in connection with the alleged abuse.

Anthony Ford, 63, of Fieldmere Close, Witney, denies three counts of rape and one count of attempted rape.

He has admitted another count involving the same alleged victim - indecency with a child.

Leighton James, 36, of Stocks Walk, Carterton, denies one count of procuring a girl under 21 to have unlawful sexual intercourse.

The offences are all alleged to have taken place in the early 2000s in West Oxfordshire.

Prosecutors said that the victim, now a woman, had been a teenage girl at the time and her ordeal lasted about eight months. READ ALSO: Former HSBC bank in Chipping Norton could be turned into hotel.

From the witness box both men gave their accounts this week and denied the charges against them.

Today, jurors heard closing arguments from both the prosecution and defence teams.

Presiding Judge Michael Gledhill QC went on to sum up the case before sending the jury home.

The case is expected to resume again on Monday when the jury will begin their deliberations in order to reach verdicts.
